On the morning of April 21, 2016, Chris Botelho was on his way to an appointment when his phone rang. It was New England Cable News, and they wanted his comment on the death of music legend Prince. Botelho, the manager and drummer for the Boston-based Prince tribute band LoVeSeXy, was stunned.

Performance duo takes barn work to stage

In a barn behind his family home in the north end of Jamestown, Michael Liebhauser began writing with his friend, Sheridan Stevens. Hours passed, and that marathon session in October bore songs, sketches and dances the actors will debut during a cabaret-style revue Saturday night.

Island insurer begins next act

A cornerstone at the Four Corners for a quarter century is changing ownership while the longtime proprietor plans his retirement. Stearns Farms owner David Martin announced his retirement to policyholders this summer. The insurance accounts are being transferred to Axia Insurance Services, a Massachusetts-based agency with an office in North Kingstown.

Space station astronaut chats with local boys As the International Space Station shot past Rhode Island Friday, two Jamestown boys were among the first Rhode Island students to probe an American astronaut aboard the satellite. Teenage pilot flies from Smithfield to Pacific

A young pilot has recently finished a 3,000-mile flight across the United States in a single-engine plane. Eli Mitchell, 18, flew from North Central State Airport in Smithfield to California in four days aboard a Piper PA-28 Cherokee. He was accompanied on the cross-country flight by his friend, Carson Toppa.
