Hello! I'm Katherine Ellis, a student of journalism, marketing and public relations. When I'm not contributing to The Daily Utah Chronicle or obsessing over my cat Winston, you can find me exploring, taking photos, scribbling in my journal or curled up with a good book. I like my sugar with a little bit of coffee and my burritos smothered.

WAUSAU - The Hoerter home is brimming with energy. Jasmine, 6, twirls through the house in a floral sundress while Isaiah, 4, trails her, shouting and laughing. Micah, 2, is shy but active and wastes no time tottering after his siblings at full speed. Elijah looks on, smiling at everyone and everything.
WESTON - Stacy Golding purchased a trailer in Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Community last June as a temporary solution to a financial setback. She had a plan: Build her credit for four years, pay off her car and get out of there so she could own her own home again.
WAUSAU - Kevin Dodd ambles down the pool steps at the Woodson YMCA in downtown Wausau. He's meeting a new client and sees his soon-to-be pupil working with a different instructor at the end of the pool. He removes his shoes and pads across the wet tiles toward them.
WAUSAU - The unveiling of a local Hmong Vietnam War Veteran's Memorial is being postponed for a second time as its organizers grapple with the thorny question of whose names should be etched on the monument's base. The memorial is intended to honor local veterans who fought in the Secret War in Vietnam before resettling in Marathon County.
Students at Wausau East High School raised $2,500 to pay for a new prosthetic arm for custodian Chong Lee. Chong Lee remembers the explosion that took his arm. It's 1968 and a group of Hmong children chase each other in the shade of the Laotian jungles that are their backyard.

"Ho bisogno usare una telefono... mi sono perso - ah... sono persa?" The gelato girl looked at me like I had thrown up on the floor of her shop. In a way I had; my jumbled, poorly pronounced word vomit was probably akin to nails on a chalkboard for her but I really didn't care.
"Toscana is a 'fitness country,'" said my host mom as I dragged myself, panting, up the mountainous flight of stairs to her apartment. "You don't say..." I huffed before collapsing on the couch. I've been in Tuscany for the last five weeks and have walked nearly 26,000 steps a day.
I've known this was coming since the beginning of my time here in Italy. I haven't acknowledged it, though. I couldn't bring myself to. But it's here - my last week, staring me in the face, challenging me to live the next seven days like they're my last.

After a well-received performance from opener Mansionair, the lights faded to black and an enormous roar erupted from the crowd, echoing off the walls of a packed Complex last night. The collective shriek continued until the steady beats of CHVRCHES' (pronounced 'Churches') first song greeted a restless Salt Lake City.
Canadian-born artist Lights signed her first deal at 15. Her unique sound and signature look has developed a cult following, and her fans have been looking forward to another album for a long time.
For those not too keen on cooking their own food this Thanksgiving, we've found the perfect solution. Relatively new to Salt Lake's dining scene, but certainly not new to the magic of Italian cuisine, From Scratch provides the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed, modern lunch made completely from fresh ingredients - providing the restaurant its name.
