You may not know this, but up to the 90s, novels were commonly in the 40-70K word count range. They'd been creeping up until then, which I suspect was influenced by bestselling authors like Stephen King who'd started releasing massive books with great success. No doubt other authors took note and followed suit.
I love the repurposing concept. As far as jargon goes, it's a very simple and straightforward one. All it is is adapting original content to serve a different purpose. It's in the name. And it's a heck of a way to multiply your content development efforts.
Although I am now considered categorically as one of them in age, I've always had some much older friends. As in significantly. Like a few decades ahead sometimes. They're great teachers. All a youngling needs to do is observe.
